Water
The City of Veneta provides potable water service to residents and businesses within the City limits. The City currently utilizes five groundwater wells for all of our water needs. For an in-depth description of our water system see the 2009 Water Master Plan (PDF).

Do You have Brown Water?
Residents sometimes call with questions about orange/brown water, staining of fixtures etc. This is due to the high iron content of the groundwater in our area. Although a nuisance from an aesthetic point of view, iron is not a regulated contaminant and is not considered a health concern.
Brown water is often caused movement of large amounts of water through the pipes in your area, usually due to testing of fire hydrants. If you are experiencing brown water, try running your bathtub and taps for 5-10 minutes to help flush the iron out. If flushing doesn’t work or if you are experiencing other problems such as loss of pressure, please call the City Public Works Department at (541) 935-2191.
Reporting A Water Leak
Leaks from private water lines on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. During business hours, leaks from the City system should be reported to City Hall at (541) 935-2191. After hours, substantial leaks (actively gushing out of the ground) should be reported to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at (541) 682-4141.
