ANIMAL CONTROL

November 1, 2006 marked a change to the City of Veneta’s animal control program, when the Lane County Animal Regulation Authority (LCARA) became the new provider of service. LCARA will only accept Veneta’s lost dogs. Should you lose a dog, contact the city first at 935-2191. The city will try to hold dogs for as long as possible, but lost dogs will not be held at the city beyond 24 hours.

The city no longer has a place to take lost cats.  If you find someone’s lost kitten, the city will not be able to help you find the owner. Both Greenhill Humane Society and LCARA will accept cats from individuals if the owner of the pet is the one who delivers it.  There is a charge for them to accept cats and possibly a waiting list.  Space is an issue, so owners may want to call ahead.

LCARA is located at 3970 West 1st Avenue in Eugene.  LCARA’s phone number is 682-3645. For additional information on the change in the City’s Animal Control Program, contact Sheryl Hackett, 935-2191.
