Visions of Veneta

Welcome to Veneta, Oregon

Incorporated in 1962, the City of Veneta is a thriving community of nearly 5,000 people. The City of Veneta is located 12 miles west of the Eugene/Springfield Metropolitan Area, in the southwest corner of the beautiful Willamette Valley in Lane County, Oregon. Located at about 420 feet above sea level, the City receives between 45-50 inches of precipitation a year, and is home to an area of many wineries. Veneta is located in close proximity to the Fern Ridge reservoir – a great place for birding, sailing, and canoeing activities, and is only 45 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 90 miles from the scenic Cascade Mountains.

Veneta Park Board Vacancies

The Veneta Park Board is seeking to fill one resident vacancy (position 6) and one non-resident vacancy (position 7) on the Veneta Park Board.  The Board meets the first Wednesday of each month and is instrumental in implementing the City's Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan and park related events such as the City's spring egg hunt and Earth/Arbor Day celebrations.  The vacancies are both four year terms and will expire March 31, 2016.   An application can be picked up at Veneta Administrative Center, 88184 Eighth Street, Veneta, Oregon or click here to download an application.  The deadline for accepting applications is February 24, 2012.

$25,000 in Grant Funds Released for Fern Ridge Service Center

The City of Veneta is pleased to announce the receipt of a $25,000 grant from the John and Jane Youell and the Florence V. Barnhart Funds of the Oregon Community Foundation.  The funds were officially released to the City on January 9, 2011 after the Oregon Community Foundation received word that the City successfully received the $1.5 million Community Development Block Grant funds from the Oregon Business Development Department. These funds will be used towards the construction of the new Fern Ridge Service Center in downtown Veneta.

The Jane Youell and the Florence V. Barnhart Funds, are in addition to funding from the John Gray Charitable Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, The Ford Family Foundation, and many other private donors and local fundraising.

With most of the funding in place the City is now able to work on the Environmental Review Report for the project. Once this report is complete and approved, the City and Fern Ridge Service Center Partners will move forward with final design and construction activities.

The Fern Ridge Service Center and its affiliate programs serve an area of 479 square miles with a population of about 25,000 people. They provide the area's senior and low-income populations with critical health, welfare, and basic human needs.
