Building Permit Process
- Submit three (3) sets of building plans at City Hall along with all necessary building permit applications. The Building Clerk is available to help you with this process. We take in plans from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- We strive to process all application within 21 days. Some permit applications take less time, some take more.
Here's what goes on in that time: the planning department checks your proposal to make sure the it conforms to our zoning code standards (setbacks, building coverage, parking, landscaping, etc.) and Public Works checks that the site plan conforms to utility and encroachment standards. Assuming everything checks out, the plans move on to the building inspectors and to Lane County Fire District #1, who check for compliance with State building and fire codes. Assuming everything checks out, the plans go back to planning for calculation of any Systems Development Charges (SDCs) and preparation for issuing.
At any stage of review you may receive notice that supplemental information or corrections are required.
We will call you when the permits are ready to be issued.
- Get your permits and pay all fees (including SDCs is applicable). We issue permits from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
