Boards and Committees 

Planning Commission

The Veneta Planning Commission is comprised of 5 individuals appointed by the Mayor for terms of four years. The Commission is charged with making land use decisions on applications where any interpretation of code is necessary or discretionary criteria are employed. Four of the five members must reside within the City limits, with one "at large" position.

Currently, the five Planning Commissioners are:

The Veneta Planning Commission meets every first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 88184 8th Street. Meetings are open to the public.

Budget Committee

Budget Committee: ORS 294.336 requires that each local government establish a Budget Committee. The committee is made up of the City Council and an equal number of citizens. Citizen members (1) must reside inside the City limits, (2) may not be an officer or employee of the City, and (3) must be a qualified voter of the City. Citizen members are appointed by the Mayor with consent of the City Council, after an application has been filed with the City Recorder. Citizen members are appointed for three year, staggered terms, and may be re-appointed. All members of the Budget Committee have the same degree of authority and responsibility. Budget Committee members may not receive compensation for serving in this capacity.

The purpose of the Budget Committee is to review the budget document as proposed by the budget officer. Once satisfied with the budget, the Committee approves it and forwards it to the City Council for public hearing and adoption. Budget Committee meetings typically occur in May, and are noticed as required by law. Meetings are open to the public, and public comment is heard at least one of the meetings.

Park Board

The City of Veneta Park Board is instrumental in planning for acquisition and development of city park land.

The Park Board meets every first Wednesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall. The public is invited to attend.
