Welcome to Veneta, Oregon
Incorporated in 1962, the City of Veneta is a thriving community of nearly 5,000 people. The City of Veneta is located 12 miles west of the Eugene/Springfield Metropolitan Area, in the southwest corner of the beautiful Willamette Valley in Lane County, Oregon. Located at about 420 feet above sea level, the City receives between 45-50 inches of precipitation a year, and is home to an area of many wineries. Veneta is located in close proximity to the Fern Ridge reservoir – a great place for birding, sailing, and canoeing activities, and is only 45 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 90 miles from the scenic Cascade Mountains.
A Day in the Life of Veneta - City of Veneta 50th Anniversary Photo Contest Amateur, Professional and School-aged Youth are invited to submit images that capture the best of the Veneta community. The contest officially opens April 11, 2012 for photo submissions and ends June 15, 2012. Photos taken after January 2012 may be submitted. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place in four subject categories. First place winners will receive an artistic, commemorative ribbon created by local artist Cathy Coulson-Keegan. A cash prize of $50 will be awarded for the People's Choice Award, which will be selected by the community at the City's 50th Birthday Celebration being held July 21st, 2012 at City Park.
