Welcome to the City of Veneta, Oregon
Veneta Economic Development Strategic Plan
The City of Veneta is currently developing an Economic Opportunity Analysis including an economic development vision and strategy, supported by information from local and regional economic trends and data — including employment figures — and an inventory of buildable employment lands. The projects will help the City create a vision for its future by identifying the City's economic development goals for the next 20 years. The City hired the University of Oregon's Community Planning Workshop (CPW), headed by Bob Parker, to prepare the EOA and an implementation strategy. Work is being reviewed by a committee composed of the City Council, Veneta Planning Commission and community stakeholders. The Committee will develop policy recommendations, strategies, and implementing measures to address land deficits or other issues identified in the EOA.
Below you can read about the project and view meeting materials and minutes. Materials will be posted about a week before each meeting.

Leaf Pick-Up Every Tuesday and Thursday through January 2015
The City of Veneta will begin picking up bagged leaves left at curbside starting October 1, 2014. Leaves will be picked up on Tuesday and Thursday of each week through the end of January 2015. Bags are to contain leaves only, no garbage or other yard debris. Bags must be tied shut.
As an alternative you may place leaves in your Yard Debris Roll Cart provided by Sanipac or use them for mulch or compost for gardens and flowerbeds.
Citizens are asked to help reduce flooding by not raking leaves into gutters or storm drains. Depositing leaves or other debris in a drainage way or street is a violation of Veneta Municipal Code Chapter 13.15.010.
New Bulk Water Station Available
The City of Veneta is happy to announce the opening of the new Cornerstone Drive Bulk Water Station. The station is located on Cornerstone Drive between Highway 126 and Jeans Road. The station will generally be open for use 24 hours a day-seven days a week.
This station will work on a pre-paid basis. All bulk water customers must go to the City of Veneta Administration Center located at 88184 8th Street to set up their account. Please note that any outstanding balance on your existing account must be paid prior to signing up for the new service. A one-time set up fee of $25 will be charged to set up the account and provide a bulk water card. Funds must be loaded onto the card prior to use.
Similar to a pre-paid debit card, the user will then "load" the card with funds at the Veneta Administrative Center. There is no restriction on the purchase amount; however, there will be a 2% surcharge based on the purchase amount, each time funds are placed or refilled on the card. Use of the prepaid funds will be charged at a flat rate, to be set by Resolution of the City Council, per 1,000 gallons of water purchased. The current rate is $11.00 per 1,000 gallons. Funds placed on the card will not expire.
Beginning September 1, 2014, bulk water will no longer be available from the Public Works Yard located on East Broadway Avenue. All bulk purchases will be made using the Cornerstone Drive Bulk Water Station.
The station features a user interface that allows the customer to use their card to purchase bulk water. The user must provide their own fill hose complete with a female cam-lock fitting sized to their needs. The station is equipped with both a two-inch and a three-inch connection. The City recommends the three-inch connection only for users that purchase 1,000 gallons or more at a time.
The water station was installed largely to make purchasing bulk water from the City more convenient. The station is easy to use and streamlines the accounting process. Please contact Veneta City Hall with any questions regarding the bulk water station at 541-935-2191.
